![]()
Two social organizations, the Sunshine Social Society and the Fairmount Neighborhood Association, hold monthly meetings and frequent potluck suppers at the church. AA, or Alcoholics Anonymous, meets on Tuesday evenings at 7pm in the Education Building. Providing confidential support, this twelve-step program is a valuable community resource. Call John at (619) 341-3615 for further information. We also support Christian service ministries in San Diego. The Interfaith Shelter Network is a service to our local homeless community, organized by the Ecumenical Council of San Diego. Our congregation provides meals and chaperone support to this rotating shelter network when it is lodged at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in North Park. In addition, we support the Mid-City Christian Service Agency in the individuals and families in a number of neighborhoods. The San Diego Coalition for Peace and Justice has its home at our church. This organization is comprised of citizens from various communities throughout the San Diego region, all united in the desire to promote peace. Meetings are on alternate Mondays at 7PM. MGC ( Music Games, and Company) is a youth outreach group that meets on some Thursday evenings in the sanctuary. All young people are welcome. |

We, as a church family, offer a variety of activities that ALL members and friends are welcome to participate in. Aside from Sunday School and Church each week, members and friends can enjoy our monthly Supper Club, a time for fellowship and good food at one of the many restaurants around town. Twice a year, in the Fall and Spring, we have a "Love Feast" also includes the rite of foot-washing, based on Christ's example of service, love, and humility. Some of our church family members get together for Padres games, movies, concerts and plays. If you feel the need for some physical activity, there is always someone going on a hike, training for a Half-Marathon, swimming or biking...and that is just locally! We also enjoy traveling to Camp Laverne in the San Bernardino Mountains where camps are offered for ALL ages. If you are inclined to sing, then we welcome you to join our choir, even if you are like one member who "always sings on key, but is never sure which key that will be". The Choir meets on Wednesday evenings at 7:00pm (some summer meetings are canceled.) Join us! Add your voice to ours, and have some fun! An opportunity to participate in Tijuana work projects is offered several times a year. Members of the First Church of the Brethren participate in Compaņeros en Ministerio (Partners in Ministry), a program which fosters service and understanding between the sister nations of America and Mexico. In addition, we have our own Tijuana ministry which assists children in orphanages and receiving homes such as La Gloria and Casa de Los Angelitos. Contact our church office and click on our Calendar of Events for more information about this ministry. Members of our church are active participants in Church Women United. This is a racially, culturally, and theologically inclusive Christian women's movement celebrating unity in diversity, and working for a world of peace and justice. Check our links page for more information, or call our church office. Note: We as a church family feel that events, along with worship, make us feel more connected to each other and to God. We hope that you will come and participate with us. A church family can never be too big. Hope to see you soon! ... John Davis
