The Restorative Justice Mediation Program is closely associated with the First Church of the Brethren.  Brethren members Pearl Hartz, Pat Perry, and Margi Secor are leaders in this community response to juvenile violence.  RJMP works to overcome the negative impacts of crime, to prevent their recurrence, and to bring victims and offenders together in mediation, a guided process that provides justice and restitution and promotes personal responsibility and healing.  RJMP works with: court probation officers, police, attorneys, self referrals, and parent referrals.

Recently the faith community of San Diego has expressed its support for RJMP by forming the People of Faith for Restorative Justice (PFRJ) committee.  This group of clergy and/or lay persons provides a collaborative spiritual basis for restorative justice. Belief in the human capacity for change and reform are key foundations for RJMP.  The process of change has been studied by scientists and theologians, and is worthwhile for all to consider.
